All donations to The Poussey Washington Fund will go towards supporting eight non-profits focused on social issues surrounding criminal justice, policy reform, immigrants’ rights, and helping those affected by mass incarceration.

The Orange Is The New Black creative team created the fund to support organizations in their effort to rethink, revise and reform justice in America. Here are the organizations benefiting from your generous donations:

Poussey Washington may have been a fictional character created for television, but her life’s story and devastating fate is all too real for many women in this country. Keep reading to see how you can be both an ally and an accomplice during these critical times.

On June 11th, 2020, we presented a live town hall event with cast members from ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK in conversation with leaders, educators, and speakers, in the anti-racism and criminal justice reform communities.

The livestream video remains online, and we hope you are able to watch at your leisure. It will be a very special and poignant event that you don't want to miss. You can view the event at Netflix’s YouTube or the OITNB Facebook page .

Participating cast members are: Uzo Aduba, Danielle Brooks, Taylor Schilling, Natasha Lyonne, Yael Stone, Laura Prepon, Dascha Polanco, Selenis Leyva, Laverne Cox, Adrienne C. Moore, Kate Mulgrew

Featured guests include: Stacey Abrams, Rashad Robinson, Rachel Cargle, Dr. Elizabeth Hinton, Piper Kerman, Andrea James

OITNB x COLOR OF CHANGE: REFORM, SOLIDARITY, ACTION

We understand that in the current climate, donating is not always easy, and we want to provide and encourage information on other ways you can get involved to turn this moment into a movement. We must all be actively practicing anti-racism to keep making significant changes.

Here are few things you can do right now!:

1. Make sure you are registered to vote.

2. Educate yourself, your friends, your family members.

3. Be okay with being uncomfortable and having tough conversations.

4. Amplify Black voices on your social media, in real life, any chance you get.

5. Support Black owned businesses over large corporations.

6. Visit ColorOfChange.org to take action and help change the criminal justice system. www.colorofchange.org
