Philadelphia Young Playwrights 2014 Sustaining Schools Campaign
DEADLINE TO GIVE: Dec 31, 2014
Your investment supports Philadelphia Young Playwrights for students in a School District of Philadelphia classroom for one year.
Almost every dollar raised at Young Playwrights directly supports classroom programs in the Philadelphia region. Each of our 60+ classroom programs costs about $8,000. School Principals are asked to pay a small portion of that program cost.
Austerity measures in the School District of Philadelphia mean that many principals are no longer able to pay the small portion of the cost of Philadelphia Young Playwrights' program, leaving a big hole in the budget.
Young Playwrights' Board of Directors is committed to replacing those funds to enable these School District of Philadelphia classrooms to have programs during the 2014-15 school year.
- J.R. Masterman Middle & High Schools (5 Classrooms) – 6th, 9th, and 12th Grades
- Penrose School (3 Classrooms) – 6th Grade
- New Language Academy (1 Classroom) – Mixed Grade Level
- Murrell Dobbins CTE (2 Classrooms)
Many of these schools had programs during the 2013-14 school year that garnered first place winning plays and monologues in our Annual Playwriting Festival. Now, these students may go without classroom programs.
