MY STORY: I am a 20-year C4/5 quadriplegic due to a spinal cord injury that occurred July 14, 1994 during a jet-ski accident at Lake Pyramid, NV, while I was getting my BA in Business Management. In March of 1995 I was diagnosed with C4 to T1 syringomyelia (a painful cyst that causes pressure on my spine). And in 2004 while I was a couple of classes short of an Associates of Arts degree in Graphic Design through a rehab program, I was diagnosed with M.S. (multiple sclerosis), severe neuropathy, degenerative disc disease and other symptoms due to my injury that keeps me from pursuing my vocation of Business Management and Graphic Design.
* My wheelchair accessible van of the last 17 years has sadly retired. I am desperately in need for special equipment on my new van. I’m unable to drive until the last 1⁄4 of my money needed to modify my van comes in. With my own minivan I am protected from exposure to the elements (weather), which greatly compromises my fragile health. With my van I will avoid taking public transportation and maintain a safer temperature for my body, as I get hypo/hyperthermia with exposure to the weather.
* I depend on my van to go to the urgent care center, or to the doctor on short notice (which happens often). It, also, facilitates independent living for me to go to appointments, grocery shopping, and other shopping, attend my church activities, and my volunteer work in the hospitals to comfort and educate new quads and people in need, and other social events that come up through the year.
* My injury affects all aspects of my life. But, because of my pain & suffering, I draw on the LORD's strength to get through each day. And because I can't do it alone, I renewed my life and was baptized at Pyramid Lake where I broke my neck. I am sharing my story through my volunteer work, so that others can understand how important it is to believe that Jesus Christ died for our sins, and that life here on earth may be filled with despair, but we have a beautiful and painless eternity to look forward to in heaven in the presence of God
Please share my story and this flyer!
