BENEFITING: Quantum House, Inc.
When I was 9 years old, I was hit by a semi truck. I was transported via helicopter to St. Mary's Medical Center in West Palm Beach Florida with life threatening injuries. During my lengthy recovery, my family stayed at the nearby Quantum House, a housing facility that offers free/low income rooms and amenities to the parents of children being treated at the nearby hospital. The Quantum House allows parents to stay close to their children during treatment, ensuring that they don't have to pay for a hotel or make a several hour drive to and from the hospital every day. The Quantum House serves as more than just a housing facility, but also serves as a support center for families with severely sick or injured children. My personal hospital stay took place over Thanksgiving, and The Quantum House provided a Thanksgiving dinner for all of the families staying with them. At the time of my accident, my family couldn't afford to donate to The Quantum House for all their help. And as a 9 year old, I didn't give it much thought. But now, 10 years later, I would like to give back to the facility that lessened the weight on my family's shoulders and continues to do the same for more than 500 families every year.
