BENEFITING: WellPet Humane
While living with previous owners, Queen was chained in the backyard. She got the chain wrapped around her right rear leg for at least 48 hours before owners checked on her. Brought to our clinic Monday morning and rear leg from ankle to toes was severely swollen with dead muscle and skin sloughing from the bone. When an estimate for amputation was presented to the owner she said she would step outside to make a phone call and never returned. We were unable to reach an owner for 48 hours after several phone calls and messages. A team member offered to foster Queen so that treatment could be done and a message was left with the owner saying we could transfer ownership with no financial input. Original owner finally called back on Wednesday 9/17 to transfer ownership. Queen is a very sweet girl, even with so much pain.
Diagnosis: Necrotic muscle with severe infection and nerve damage to right rear leg
Procedure: Amputation (needed for survival)
Prognosis: Good after surgery
Estimated Cost: $1800
Fundraising Goal: $1800
