BENEFITING: Queens Centers for Progress
ORGANIZER: Queens Centers for Progress
EVENT DATE: Oct 22, 2017
My dear friends,
I have been affiliated with QCP since 2013, when one of their board members asked if I wanted to run the NYC Marathon on behalf of the organization. With my first-born due the same day as the race, I had to decline, but I was able to contribute to the cause and return the following year to participate in the marathon. My connection with the agency, a means to help the organization achieve their mission of providing person-centered services and supports to children and adults who have developmental disabilities, didn’t stop there, it blossomed into a much longer “run.”
What pulled me in and kept me engaged all these years is the level of commitment of the staff and the dedicated care-givers that tirelessly work to promote independence, community involvement, and quality of life for the people whom the organization serves. My run did not end there….
On October 22, 2017, I am running the Marine Corps Marathon in Washington, DC, once again, as a member of Team QCP, the organization’s endurance/fundraising program. To run the Marine Corps Marathon is very special to me. I have a tremendous amount of respect for our country’s armed forces. Running in this historic race, is a wonderful way to honor the men and women who serve and protect us, each and every day. It is important to me to support them in any way that I can. That I can participate in this race while helping out QCP makes it even more special.
QCP is a sound organization and serves over 1500 people on a daily basis with another 1000 families served through their clinic and service coordination departments. They play a necessary role in helping the people they support receive the resources necessary to achieve independence and integrate into the community. It is NEVER easy for a person with a disability; there are barriers, there are hurdles. By donating to QCP you can help break down these barriers and directly improve the quality of life for the children and adults who rely on then each and every day. I’ll do the hard part; all I need to help me through is support from you by donating here, on
Thank you for your contribution.
All the best,
