BENEFITING: Queens Centers for Progress
ORGANIZER: Queens Centers for Progress
EVENT DATE: Nov 06, 2016
On November 6, 2016 I will run the NYC Marathon as part of a team raising funds for the organization Queens Centers For Progress (“QCP”). QCP’s mission statement reads in part: “QCP is committed to providing person-centered services and supports to children and adults who have developmental disabilities. The goal of these services and supports is to promote independence, community involvement, and quality of life.”
This year will be my third time running the NYC Marathon as part of the QCP team. Many of you helped me get to the finish line in 2014 and 2015 with encouragement, advice, and sponsorship. I will always be grateful for the kind and generous support I have been privileged to enjoy.
I love NYC. For me the NYC Marathon and the work of QCP are symbolic of NYC’s best qualities: inclusion and diversity. I am excited to have another opportunity to show my love for the city. On a personal level running the NYC Marathon will help me develop qualities I admire and aspire to: mental and physical discipline and toughness.
My commitment to QCP is to raise $5000 in donations. For this I need your help. Please take a few minutes and check out their site at http://www.queenscp.org/ to learn more about their work. I’m sure you’ll agree with me that QCP is a fantastic organization. They do incredible work.
All donations will be greatly appreciated. If you are able to make a donation, please be sure to check with your employer to see if they have a matching gift program.
I am confident your support (with training and preparation) will get me to the finish line on Nov. 6.
