BENEFITING: The Child Center of NY
All children want to learn -- they want to master new skills and feel good about themselves. But without good work and social habits, so many kids struggle in school. They get discouraged, and start thinking of themselves as stupid or misunderstood. They stop trying.
But when a child knows how to learn, all of that can change. With strong study and life skills, kids are confident and motivated. They learn how to prepare, focus, understand, and remember -- skills they will use their entire lives.
Queens United Middle School and The Child Center of NY serve a strong and vibrant community in Laurelton, Queens. We serve 160 students who often struggle with time management and study skills. This fall, Queens United and The Child Center provided these students with a program called Successful Study Skills 4 Students, an evidence-based program that helps kids learn better. We were so happy with the results from this program, we are planning to bring three additional leadership programs to the school this year on topics such as etiquette, first impressions, and healthy masculinity/femininity. We hope you will be able help us reach our fundraising goals to make these programs possible!!
Any donation makes a difference in giving our 6th or 7th graders the tools they need to be a great student and a confident, capable person throughout middle school, high school, college, and life. Please, help us give these kids a chance to discover the joy of learning -- and the deep satisfaction that comes from being prepared and confident.
