BENEFITING: QUEER CONTROL RECORDS
In addition to the typical challenges faced by new musicians trying to gain exposure, experience, and the support of a record label, emerging LGBTIQQ artists often face discrimination from mainstream record labels and the music industry at large. Every 12-18 months, QCR selects a new class of “Resident Artists.” By providing funding and technical support to underprivileged and underrepresented LGBTIQQ musicians and bands, QCR helps artists gain exposure and success that might otherwise be difficult to come by.
These funds will go to the selection of 3 resident artists and provide them with stipends for their choice of recording/manufacturing costs or tour costs. In return we ask they put on a local benefit show in their community featuring LGBTIQQ artists to raise funds to be split 30% QCR and 70% to artist. We will provide all information and teach Resident Artist how to organize a successful benefit show.
