a new year and a new fundraiser
June 23, 2016
Supporting the Tunnel to Towers Foundation is a way of providing a living memorial to my deceased co-worker from the US Military Academy, West Point Fire Department, Richard 'Bruce' Van Hine. He along with our extended family of Firefighters, Police and Emergency Medical Technicians who perished on September 11th, 2001 gave the ultimate. Bruce was a member of Squad 41, FDNY and responded that fateful day along with 342 other firefighters. Prior to joining NYC's Bravest, he had worked with us at West Point and served in the U.S. Navy.
A little about myself; I retired from the Fire Department at West Point NY in December of 2007. Prior to that I served in the United States Army and Army Reserves, retiring in February of 2001 after 25 years of Service. Currently I reside on the Mississippi Gulf Coast and am involved with the Veterans of Foreign Wars. As part of the VFW, I am involved with the Honor Guard, providing final services often at the Biloxi National Cemetery as a Bagpiper for our deceased Veterans.
With that preceding paragraph, You may begin to understand why, I choose to aid our Veterans through the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation. Thank you for your support. SFC/FF (retired) Quinn Chastant.
