SECOND CITY CANINE RESCUE wrote -Our team is so excited to run and play in the mud with this extremely popular mud run! While it's fun for humans to get dirty, it is heartbreaking to see the dogs that come into our care in such condition. The goal of this race is to raise money to alleviate the grooming costs for new dogs to our program. It is very common for strays and even owner surrenders at animal control to come to us very matted and dirty. It is a sign of the hard life they have had. Part of what Second City Canine Rescue does before the dogs are in their forever homes is get them looking shiny and squeaky clean. This typically costs between $35-$50 per dog but can be more expensive for dogs in really poor condition. That amount of money does not seem high but when multiplied by how many dogs we take in it becomes quite an expense. Every little bit makes a difference!
**Please note, the dog in the photo is NOT a SCCR dog but he was so cute I could not help myself ;) **
