Second City Canine Rescue is SO excited to present our first race of the season for our first year of Racing4Rescue!!!
Our goal for this race is to raise $1000 to help our HEARTWORM POSITIVE dogs that we've taken from high-kill shelters. Webber, pictured, is one of our newest heartworm positive pooches. This treatment can cost between $500-$1000 per dog. On Thursday, February 7th there is another heartworm positive dog, Rascal, coming in to us as well. Heartworm disease is a very serious, often fatal, disease in dogs that have not been kept current on an easy monthly preventative pill. You can read more about heartworm disease at http://heartwormsociety.org/
If you are a runner and you want to join in the fun with SCCR, we would love to have you. Sign up for the Shamrock Shuffle at http://www.shamrockshuffle.com/ as soon as possible (it sells out!) and fundraise from now until April 7th....that's just 8 weeks away!
If you raise $250 by race day on Crowdrise, SCCR will will sponsor you in the event by paying your registration fee.* That's right, $45 back in your pocket!
Not a runner? That's okay! The SCCR marathon team invites you to support us anyway you want whether it be financially or sending good thoughts our way as we power through this 8K race (just under 5 miles). Together, we can help SCCR continue to rescue responsibly!
*Participants are required to register for the race on their own. We CANNOT register you. Proof of race registration/proof of payment is required to have your registration paid for/refunded. Once you join the Second City Canine Rescue fundraiser: “SCCR's Racing4Rescue Shamrock Shuffle” page on Crowdrise and raise $250, we will contact you to request your proof of payment/registration and arrange payment/reimbursement of your registration. You may not participate in similar programs for this event with other organizations or the offer to have registration paid for will be null and void.
Donations to Second City Canine Rescue, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, are 100% tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.
