EVENT DATE: Oct 24, 2015
The South Bergen Rotary Club is joining forces with Race2Rebuild for the Race2Rebuild Moonachie 5K and Project Day on Saturday, October 24, 2015, an all-day event to support the Rotary Club Foundation’s Snack Pack Program and Race2Rebuild’s disaster recovery projects.
The day kicks off with a 5K and Community Breakfast at the ball fields on Redneck Road. The Bergen County VOAD will lead kids in a “Zombie Ready Family Disaster Preparedness Game.” Costumes are encouraged.
At the Community Breakfast, awards will be presented to top finishers. Special guest speakers will commemorate the third anniversary of Superstorm Sandy before sending volunteers off to participate in community-wide service projects, including the rebuilding of a Sandy-damaged home with partner Rebuilding Together Bergen County. Volunteer projects last from 2-5 hours. A Volunteer After-Party will be held at 4PM.
Participants may register to race, volunteer or both. 5K runners and volunteers receive T-shirt, goody bag and breakfast. Volunteers also receive lunch.
The registration fee for the 5K is $30 until October 1, then $35 until race day and $40 on the day of the event. Residents of Moonachie and Little Ferry receive a special discounted entry of $25. Email firstname.lastname@example.org for the coupon.
This event is produced by Race2Rebuild and the South Bergen Rotary Club and made possible with the support of the Mayor and Council of Moonachie, Borough of Little Ferry, Rebuilding Together Bergen County, Community Foundation of New Jersey, Hurricane Sandy NJ Relief Fund, Bergen County VOAD/Long Term Recovery Committee, Roof4Roof, Spinlister and many more.
