BENEFITING: PHYSICIANS AIDING PHYSICIANS ABROAD INC
Our team of runners will be racing over 200 miles across Texas to help raise money for an important mission. This mission is to help financially support the building of an Emergency Room department at the El Quiche Valley Hospital in Canilla, Guatemala. The Guatemalans living in the town of Canilla, within the El Quiche Valley have extremely limited medical care. The majority of the people living in the region are of Mayan decent and are considered to be second class citizens by the government; the citizens are often denied the medical care they so desperately need. The El Quiche Valley Hospital project has a total expected cost of $700,000, with a budget for the emergency department of $13,230. There is also a need for equipment & supplies once the ER is built. While not everyone has the time to travel to Guatemala to help build this hospital or be there hands on to assist the people, everyone can use their hard earned money to help fund a mission that will provide desperately needed healthcare to the severely underserved.
