On Sunday, November 6, 2011, I am going to run my first marathon. As a native New Yorker, I have always loved Marathon Day. I think it shows the best of the City and brings out the best in all New Yorkers. I loved the celebration and fun of the day, but never thought I could run a marathon. This year, I found the motivation I needed - I am joining friends and co-workers to run as part of a Glenview Capital/ Robin Hood Team. I am hoping to raise $5,000 to support Robin Hood's mission is to eliminate poverty in NYC.
Robin Hood’s Board of Directors underwrites all of the fundraising and administrative expenses, so every dollar you give goes directly to help others.
I hope you will support me in my fundraising goal and also come out on Marathon Day to cheer me on - training is going well, but I am going to need all the help I can get!
For the past 4 years, more than 500 Robin Hood runners have crossed the finish line of the ING New York City Marathon. Along the way, these runners have raised nearly $3 million for Robin Hood, helping to feed, shelter and heal our neighbors in need, as well as equipping them with educational and employment opportunities to improve their lives.
When you race for ROBIN HOOD, you support 200 poverty-fighting schools and programs in all five boroughs. During the race, we will pass through the neighborhoods of ten Robin Hood funded programs. Click here to view the map.
