Hello, my name is Rachael Gottwald. I am 25 years old and approximately two years ago I was looking for a job that involved working with children. I was fortunate enough to find a job as a resident counselor at Crystal Springs. At the time, I really wasn't sure what Crystal Springd was all about but I knew they helped children.
I now work with children that have severe to profound physical and mental disabilities. They are faced with challenges on a daily basis. I realize the parents of these children have limited time with them. The time they have is special. I see the struggles the children and their parents deal with when they are faced with health issues.
During this new chapter of my life I also developed a love for the gym. I realized through the help of a great trainer that working out and running trails was a wonderful way to help raise money for good causes. I have grown to love running, as much as I love children. For the last year and a half I have run four days a week, with a mixture of distance and seven mile trail runs. Like most people that run, there is always the dream of running the Boston Marathon.
Recently my mother introduced me to someone that had a reason to run the Boston Marathon and that reason led me to the Ace Bailey Children's Foundation. Beth Ann, and Kevin Bligh are the parents of a beautiful daughter that was born premature. During their stay in the hospital the foundation touched them and made their time there peaceful. To me, what the Ace Bailey Children's foundation provides for families with children in the hospital, is similar to what I hope to achieve for my children in their home at Crystal Springs. An environment with hope!
This foundation was created in memory of Ace Bailey and his love for children. The former Bruin was killed during the 9/11 terrorist attack. His family created the foundation to help create a more comfortable environment for families during their children's stay at the hospital. The Floating Hospital for Children at Tufts Medical Center Boaton is the recipient of the funding. I am so happy to be a part of something that can make a difference to children and their parents in the time of need. I feel this is another chapter in my life, where I can make a difference.
My goal is to raise 5,000.00 for the foundation, any donation you can provide is greatly appreciated. Please follow me on Facebook and visit the Ace Bailey Children's Foundation website at www.crowdrise.com/2015AceBailey/foundation/rachaelgottwald for details and donations. Enjoy the run!!
