BENEFITING: FANCONI ANEMIA RESEARCH FUND INC
EVENT: Cycling a Century to Cure FA
EVENT DATE: Aug 06, 2016
My daughter died of a rare, genetic disease called Fanconi Anemia (FA). FA leads to bone marrow failure and extraordinarily high rates of cancer at a very young age. The mission of the Fanconi Anemia Research Fund (FARF) is to find effective treatments and a cure for Fanconi anemia and to provide education and support services to affected families worldwide. In a very short time the research they fund has lead to an understanding of the genetic basis of the disease, and improved treatments. Because FA is biologically connected to several cancers, including breast cancer and leukemia, the research that FARF supports has also improved the understanding and treatment of more commone diseases. I am challenging myself to ride 100 miles in the Portland Century Ride to raise money for the FARF. Please sponsor my ride with your donation of any amount. All the money raised (apart from a small % that goes to Crowdrise) will go directly to FARF.
