BENEFITING: Run Far, Inc.
My Run Far teammate, Maribel, and I are very excited to be running in our first NYC Marathon on November 5, and we are thrilled to help raise money for Run Far, Inc. We've cumulatively run many marathons, but this one will be extra special as we'll be running for something more than just ourselves. As an added bonus, we'll get to meet each other in person for the first time at the race!
Run Far's mission is to raise awareness on veteran suicide and post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) while providing scholarships to the children of fallen United States Military service members who have taken their own lives due to this ongoing battle. Through the Sergeant Sean Northcutt Scholarship, Run Far will provide benefits and necessary assistance to the children of these fallen service members who have lost the battle at home. Currently, we are working towards providing our first scholarship to a high school student who has been affected by PTSD and veteran suicide. We want to raise more money to help support him with his future endeavors and provide him with the recognition he deserves! For this marathon, we hope to raise $5,000.
Founder of Run Far, CJ Schneider III, veteran of the United States Marine Corps, is an ultra marathon runner whose goal is to bring people together through fitness to raise awareness for veteran suicide and PTSD. To learn more about Run Far, check out the website: www.run-far.org.
