THE STORY:

The Racing for a Cause campaign is directed at creating awareness and raising funds to support APFED in the education of the general public, as well as the medical community about Eosinophilic Disorders.

The campaign was started in 2009 by then 7 yr old Ricky Springer. Ricky lives with an Eosinophilic Disorder called Eosinophilic Colitis. Ricky suffered for the first 21 months of his life, seeing 18 different doctors, all whom were unable to diagnose his illness. As a dirt track go-kart racer, Ricky decided to use his racing as a platform to make a difference in the lives of all those who are suffering, trying to find an accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment of an Eosinophilic Disorder.

In the first 8 months of 2010, Ricky educated over 1.2 Million people about Eosinophilic Disorders, through special events, appearances, media, and through internet presence and social networking. He also started the Racing for a Cause Team, where he has been joined by other racers from around the world, who help endorse and promote the campaign and carry the Racing for a Cause logo on their race vehicles.

It is Ricky's dream that "NO ONE should suffer and live in pain like I did!".
