BENEFITING: FAMILY ADDITION DOG RESCUE OF CHARLOTTE
EVENT DATE: Nov 17, 2012
I'm so happy to announce that I finished Thunder Road and exceeded my fundraising goal! Thank you from the bottom of my heart to all of you who donated and supported me along the way. I'll see you next marathon season to do it all over again.
I'm on my to way to Thunder Road and I'm Racing for the Rescues - Until they all have a Home
I started running in April. I ran my first 5K in June. And I was hooked. I signed up for marathon training and I'm running my first marathon, Charlotte's Thunder Road, this November with a 10K and a half marathon along the way.
As a pet and shelter animal photographer, I donate my time and services to various rescue organizations, and also open my home as a pet foster parent. And I’m honored to be “owned” by three precious rescued girls, including those two beagles in the second picture.
I know photography and fostering helps, but now I want to do more and get more people involved. So here I am, running a marathon (and half marathon!) and doing it for the furbabies. I know when I cross that finish line all of the training, the pain, and the sacrifices made to get there will be worth it because more animals found homes and knew love.
This race season I'm donating to Family Addition Dog Rescue of Charlotte, where I also recently began volunteering as a photographer. I'm so excited to work more with this rescue and help them save more animals.
About Family Addition Dog Rescue of Charlotte
Family Addition is a non-profit 501C3 organization based in Charlotte, N.C. They are dedicated to providing refuge to the many abandoned, abused, and neglected dogs in the community and placing them in appropriate homes where they are members of the family. As a non-profit rescue group, they rely largely on donations from people like you to help these homeless animals.
While many people think the adoption fees cover all the expenses for an animal, those fees really only scratch the surface.
Take Autumn, for example (shown in pictures 1, 5, and 6). When you donate, you'll be helping dogs like her get the care they need to live long, healthy, happy lives. Autumn was found as a stray and she is heartworm positive. Just the cost of the heartworm shots to kill those nasty parasites is nearly $300 (which is more than her adoption fee). This doesn't include other vet needs, and basic care like food and toys. And she's just one dog. There are many, many, many more dogs just like her and they all require money for care. And they all deserve what Autumn now knows - days filled with belly rubs and treats, romping in the yard, and a life filled with love.
Please consider helping dogs like Autumn get the lives they deserve by donating to my cause! Thank you!
