UPDATE: Due to health and personal circumstances, I'm not able to complete a half marathon this season. However, I'm still running a bunch of 5Ks and I've extended the fundraiser through the holidays. Even though I'm not running as many miles, the homeless pets of Family Addition still need your help. Please donate and help a homeless pet this holiday season!
Last year, I raced for the rescues and raised $1100 for Family Addition Dog Rescue in Charlotte, and I'm this year to do it all over again with an even bigger fundraising goal of $2000!
My big race this year is the Savannah Rock 'n Roll Marathon on November 9, 2013. As always, your donation is tax deductible and saves lives! Please consider donating and helping me reach my goal - no donation is too big or too small. These homeless pets need us!
And just in case you're wondering, yep, I have my own pack full of rescued animals - 4 of them. The most recent one came from Family Addition Dog Rescue - I'm a foster fail and I wouldn't have it any other way.

My Running Story
In April 2012, after nearly a decade of talking about running, I finally got up and did it. I ran my first 5K in June 2012, and was hooked on racing. I immediately signed up with a local running group to train for a marathon and in the process of training, ran my first 10K and half marathon plus a few more 5Ks.
Since then, I've run a few more half marathons and 5Ks, and also placed first in my age group in a recent race! And this year, I have the privilege of coaching other runners for the summer/fall 2013 marathon training season. My only regret is that I spent so much time thinking about running before I actually went out and just did it.
About Family Addition Dog Rescue of Charlotte
Family Addition is a non-profit 501C3 organization based in Charlotte, N.C. They are dedicated to providing refuge to the many abandoned, abused, and neglected dogs in the community and placing them in appropriate homes where they are members of the family. As a non-profit rescue group, they rely largely on donations from people like you to help these homeless animals.
While many people think the adoption fees cover all the expenses for an animal, those fees really only scratch the surface. Rescued animals often need expensive vet care for medical issues, like heartworms. They also need toys, treats, blankets, kennels, and food.
