BENEFITING: ROW NEW YORK
EVENT DATE: May 16, 2015
Row New York is a truly unique organization. In the heart of NYC, underserved youth are given the opportunity to participate in a sport that will truly change their life! Every day, over 200 middle and high school students participate in RNY's programs in Manhattan and Queens. In the 11 years that RNY has existed, over 95% of the participants have gone on to college, many on full scholarship. In addition to our core program of student athletes, we have over 2,200 rowers across all our programs, including PE classes in NYC public middle schools, summer camps, para-rowing for athletes with physical and/or cognitive disabilities, and programs for adults: fitness classes, learn-to-row sessions, training at both recreational and competitive levels, and corporate team-building days.
The Harlem River Classic will be an amazing opportunity for Radcliffe Alumnae to reunite and compete against other boats in a friendly environment. All of the proceeds of this event will directly support RNY's youth programs which empower young people from New York City’s under-resourced communities to build strength, gain confidence and pursue excellence through the unique sport of rowing.
