BENEFITING: WOUNDED WARRIOR PROJECT
EVENT DATE: Jul 24, 2015
I’m cycling across Iowa in this year’s 500-mile RAGBRAI ride (July 19 – 25) and am dedicating each day in support of an important charitable organization. I’ll use the ride as an opportunity to raise funds and help create awareness for these organizations and the causes they support.
The Wounded Warrior Project is among the organizations I’ll be supporting during RAGBRAI. Day 6 (July 24th, Hiawatha to Coralville) will be in support of the Wounded Warrior Project and their important work. Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) serves veterans and service members who incurred a physical or mental injury, illness, or wound, co-incident to their military service on or after September 11, 2001 and their families. On that date, America watched in horror as approximately 3,000 people died including hundreds of firefighters and rescue workers. Many warriors note a sense of duty to volunteer for the military following these tragic events. WWP has as its purpose:
- To raise awareness and enlist the public's aid for the needs of injured service members.
- To help injured service members aid and assist each other.
- To provide unique, direct programs and services to meet the needs of injured service members.
This day is also dedicated to in honor of all military veterans, and those serving today.
If you'd like to join me in supporting the Wounded Warrior Project, please donate here! Thanks!
