In leiu of gifts this year, Daniel, David and I have decided to dedicate our birthday to raising money to a cause that is very important to all three of us. As all of you know, we lost our loving and amazing grandfather, Papa Sami, almost 2 years ago. However, the world also lost a great pioneer, mind and physician-scientist. In his last few years of life, he had come up with several drugs, most notably COH-SR4, that have been shown to have great promise as a chemotherapeutic agent for colon, brain, ovarian, breast, prostate, and kidney cancer, as well as leukemia, osteosarcoma (bone cancer), and obesity. It was the work on these drugs that he published in a leading scientific journal on his very last day of health. Knowing it's promising implications and despite Papa Sami's passing, The City of Hope has continued his research and subsequent experiments have continued to support it's efficacy and use. However, funds are needed to continue.
Our family has spent the last two years making sure my grandpa's vision comes to fruition, out of our love for him, his passion for his work and his dedication to improving health and battling life threatening disease. So on our 24th birthday, we too are dedicating this day to raising money for this worthy cause. On behalf of my entire family, my grandfather’s colleagues and the City of Hope, we thank you for your constant support ♥
