Hi Rachel! I was so saddened that you couldn't come and work with us! I hope that eventually you will be able to make it one day. If you want to still help fundraising though we have something really important and right now we really need your help! One of our most beloved employees is in a coma with severe head trauma after falling from a roof on Wednesday. We need to raise the funds to cover his hospital bills and care for his family while he is recovering. We would really appreciate all the help we can get, big or small! Thanks so much! http://www.crowdrise.com/saveelias/fundraiser/HeatherGraham

Hey Rachel- Happy July! You’ve got my vote.

If you get a chance please check out our new fundraising project ($1200 Matched Donation Drive). This month we have an outside donor who’s matching all donations we get on crowdrise. That means your donation dollars go twice as far this month. We’re a really small organization and each donations means so much to us and our students in South Africa.

Thanks so much,

Corey

“Freedom in general may be defined as the absence of obstacles to the realization of desires” ~Bertrand Russell

July is the month for celebrating freedom in many countries, including Burundi & Rwanda (July 1st), Abkhazia, a.k.a. Georgia, & the United States (July 4th), Algeria, Cape Verde & Venezuela (July 5th), Malawi (July 6th), Solomon Islands (July 7th), Argentina (July 9th), the Bahamas (July 10th), São Tomé and Príncipe (July 12th), Slovakia (July 17th), Laos (July 19th), Belgium (July 21st), Liberia & Maldives (July 26th), Peru (July 28th), Vanuatu (July 30th)...

During this time where some of us celebrate our freedom, it would do us well in spirit to remember to act for those who can not act for themselves; those hindered by a lack of freedom and independence, due to medical illness, political or economic strife, or the bonds of slavery, abuse or torture. We have the freedom to make a difference in the lives of others....A July vote for you for being here to make that difference...

CROWDRISING SINCE: Jun 10, 2011
Stuff About Me:

Well, it's not really about me, but if you're curious...I'm an American, living in Poland.  I teach English and try my best not to send my students running from the school ;-)

I've always been convinced that if we could just re-think the way we treat children, give them an education, some love, and teach them how to be strong, compassionate adults, maybe we could have some hope for the world.  To that end, I'm spending the next three months at Casa Guatemala, home to more than 250 abused, neglected, or orphaned children.

Will you sponsor my volunteer work?
