My name Maggie Falwell and I am the Event Intern at Watson Children's Shelter!
Watson Children's Shelter provides a safe and nurturing home to abused and neglected Montana children. Each year, more than 150 kids — infant to age 14 — are brought to WCS. On average, each child stays at the shelter for 50 days, though some children need to stay longer until their family crisis is resolved or longer term supportive care can be arranged. We welcome children 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. From the moment a child steps through our doors they are surrounded with love. Our two shelters are designed to provide a safe, comfortable and welcoming stay for every child.
Some of the children have never had a bedroom, never eaten a true family meal, and never had toys and art supplies. They often arrive with just the clothes on their backs. Here, they have their own bed, a place for their belongings, rooms for play, crafts, dining and learning. We provide them with clothing, nourishing meals and an opportunity to be what they truly are – beautiful, smart, important children.

It did not take long for me to fall in love with WCS and their mission. The staff members are dedicated invididuals and the support from the community is overwhelming.
Bike for Shelter, the event I am working on, is our annual event that provides a critical portion of funding for our shelter. The event is open to the community and offers something for everyone, from a family-friendly bike ride to a barbecue lunch to carnival games.
