BENEFITING: Association Of Korean Adoptees
EVENT DATE: Mar 20, 2011
AKA-SoCal is quite literally a lifeline. When my wife and I first moved to Southern California we did not know many people. Going to AKA events, I felt immediately at home. I met life long friends and deepened my connection to my own Korean heritage. AKA put me in touch with folks who know intimately the ups and downs, the highs and lows, of being adopted. Walking through life, experiencing a different racial reality than your family, can be isolating. Sharing this experience with others who have walked a similar, if not identical journey is uplifting and life affirming.
