On September 9, 2013, about 200 MNLF (Moro National Liberation Front) members attacked Zamboanga City.
As of date, 4,716 families totalling more than 62,000 residents have evacuated and 52 people were killed. A great part of the barangays (villages) where the MNLF are staying were burned down.
This is the 6th day since the start of the war. The displaced families are now in the city's sports complex and local schools that serve as evacuation centers. The Zamboanga City Medical Center, located in the area of the attack, continued its operation in a university's gymnasium, with only the few equipments and medicines that they can carry.
The displaced residents, who fled immediately and whose houses may have burned already, are in dire need of food, water, clothing, and medicines.
All proceeds from this Fundraiser will go to the victims of this war.
*Zamboanga has a population of 807,129 (as of 2010 census) and home to about 70% Catholics and an estimated 20% Muslims. It is the 3rd largest city in the Philippines.
