Back in November 2009 our daughter, Abby, was diagnosed with Autism. We were told that early intervention would be the key to Abby's future success. This meant enrolling Abby in speech therapy, ABA (Applied Behavioral Analysis), Social Skills group therapy, etc. At the time, my insurance would not cover any of these services. It did cover part of Abby's speech until she was 6 years old. These therapies were quite expensive and we incurred a mountain of medical debt. As time went on, and parents, caregivers and other key individuals fought for reformed insurance practices related to special needs. Things are better, but there is still a long way to go. Parents/Grandparents/Caregivers still need more affordable resources to help children who struggle with Autism spectrum disorders. AUTISM FACTS •Autism now affects 1 in 68 children and 1 in 42 boys • Autism prevalence figures are growing • Autism is one of the fastest-growing developmental disorders in the U.S. • Autism costs a family $60,000 a year on average • Boys are nearly five times more likely than girls to have autism • There is no medical detection or cure for autism Even if you cannot financially support this cause, thank you for taking the time to read, and learn, about Autism and this fundraise. Thank you for your support
