Raising Funds For Family of 7 In Afghanistan
Organized by: Mehrnoosh Aryanpour
There have been countless lives lost in Afghanistan over the last decade to ensure freedom not only for the sake of Afghans but also to ensure freedom is guaranteed for many that live far away. In the many battles towards that end, many Afghans have given their lives. This plea involves one of these brave individuals: Kaka Jaan.
This is a man who lived in one the most isolated environments in the world, the Panjshir valley. As remote as that may seem, he strived for his sons and daughters to excel and become responsible individuals. His daughter is in law school, his younger son taught children at a local school. He leaves behind five younger kids and wife.
He fought against the Soviet aggression. He fought against injustice in Afghanistan. It is our duty to heed his sacrifices and show our appreciation to such individuals.
My Kaka Jaan died in Kabul last month of natural causes at the age of 56. He leaves behind 7 kids. More importantly he left behind a generosity and love for his family and friends that I, among many others, had too little time to ever recompense and truly appreciate: I want to change that! This is a call to charity for someone who started out as my driver and became a dear friend. I'm starting this campaign for his sons and daughters whose plans were cut short by his untimely death. I'm also starting it for me who might not have appreciated a friend at the time thinking there would always be another trip, another time to show gratitude, another time to say "Thank You". I want this to be my thank you: to support his family in a way that he no longer can.
He was an ally, let's remember him as such!
