THE STORY:

Batey Aleman is a village in the Dominican Republic. In this Village there is a child care center/school that provides for the local children. It is a place where they can go to learn, play, receive food, and learn about the love of Christ. For the past two years we have traveled with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and used sports as a platform to minister and love the people of the Dominican Republic. This year instead of to raising money travel to the Dominican Republic, we felt led to raise money to put a roof on the Springs in the Desert Child Care Center. The reason we chose this particular child care center is because many of the children who are cared for here are actually Haitian and do not have "papers" that are recognized by the government of the DR. Because of this the Springs in the Desert cannot receive the help they need.

When we visited the child care center, it was a beautiful breezy day. As we played there were many times when we where scared because the wind made the metal roof fly up and slam down. When it rain the water comes inside and ruins a lot of their things. Helping them to have a cement roof will stop all this from happening but also will allow them the opportunity to build on another story as their ministry grows.
