Many of you know that months ago I set up a Go Fund Me for our sweet friends The Newmans as Bruce battles brain cancer. I had no idea then that my own father Rich, would be hit out of nowhere with Stage 4 stomach cancer in September of 2016. My Dad has always been a rock to me.And while we are vastly different in ways, we are also much alike. We both love our family, love God, and are as stubborn and hard headed as the day is long. He is strong, independent, and hard working. His accomplishments in life range from being a Vietnam soldier at age 18, being a hard working provider, raising me from infancy alone when my mom walked out on us, overcoming earthly addictions and replacing them with a love for the Lord, serving the Lord and church in countless ways, and always being there when I needed him.He has taught me that hard work and determination pay off. He is a fighter, an overcomer, and not just by his own strength ,but by God's. He wears many hats in his life. He is now husband to his wife Linda, Step Dad to Mike, brother to his sisters Jean ,Melissa, and Ginny, "Pop Pop" to Ethan and Violet, and many more titles to others. He is a church cleaner, usher, has worked countless hours in a prison ministry. The list goes on of people who he loves and who love him. So we now , as family, friends, and co -workers of Rich all have a chance to Rally around him in a time of need. My Dad will be out of work starting on October 17th due to chemotherapy treatments, but that won't stop the bills from piling in.Please consider helping to give whatever you feel led to ease the financial strain on a man who has only taken about 10 sick days in 45 years, but now needs to rest and heal. We don't know the final outcome of my Dad's days. The doctors are not giving a hopeful prognosis, but we know that with God all things are possible, so we also ask for your sincere prayers to rid his body from the cancer that wants to take over, to heal his heart from the sadness, and restore peace to his spirit and body. As a daughter who loves him to the moon and back, I thank you. Sincerely, Shannon
