BENEFITING: RALLY FOUNDATION.ORG
Hi, I'm Dana. I'm running the Nike Women's Half Marathon in Washington, DC on April 27th on behalf of 'TEAM ALEXIS'. I have the pleasure of joining other Rally athletes to raise money for the Rally Foundation for childhood cancer research funding.
Alexis is 17 & has been cancer free since October 22, 2013. She was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma in her right knee/femur March 25, 2013 at the age of 16. Her mother that Alexis "was scheduled for 9 months of chemo but by the grace of GOD she completed treatment 2 months ahead of time." She had total knee replacement surgery in June 2013. When she initially had the knee replacement, because of her chemo schedule, she was unable to do the scheduled PT. Therefore, she could not bend her new knee, but after outpatient surgery (Knee Manipulation) she experienced lots of pain all over again but she says she's happy because after not being able to bend her knee for 10mths, she knows she will be walking normally in no time. Her mother says, "We have fought this horrible disease and WON, it was extremely difficult! But it is ONLY because GOD gave my baby the strength of a million horses and a Wonderful Faithful Spirit that we BEAT cancer & are STRONG SURVIVORS."
The spirit ALIVE in Alexis and her mother is palpable and contagious. I'm running for their strength, perseverance, and HOPE for a fighting chance against her disease. Please consider opening your hearts and making a donation to enrich the future of Alexis and other wonderful kids just like her!
