BENEFITING: EMPACT-Suicide Prevention Center
EVENT DATE: Nov 02, 2014
My individual goal is to raise $1000 to help fund our Rally Point Military Program and Suicide Prevention services. To do so, I will be road marching with my team of 22 Veterans and Family members to raise awareness that VETERAN SUICIDE is not an issue that is going away, it's right there in all of our faces.
As an Operation Iraqi Freedom veteran, I continue to deal with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Traumatic Brain Injury and all of the symptoms that come with those diagnoses. The most difficult of all my symptoms are THOUGHTS OF SUICIDE and the feeling of utter HOPELESSNESS that precedes it. I am a SURVIVOR of a suicide attempt that shook me to my core and set me on the path of what I do today.
Many of my fellow comrades have succumbed to this EPIDEMIC; the publicized number is 22 A DAY, that's ONE EVERY 65 MINUTES. Ladies and gentlemen, this is a MENTAL HEALTH CRISIS and will continue to progress if we don’t do something in our communities!
I work as a Military Navigator to help prevent veterans and their families from going into CRISIS as well as surround them with supportive services so they do not slip back into CRISIS when coming out of it. There are few of us; but we are boots on the ground NAVIGATORS assisting veterans and their families daily...this is not a policy group. Please help us continue efforts to support our community's veterans. Thank you for your consideration.
