BENEFITING: CONGENITAL HYPERINSULINISM INTERNATIONAL
EVENT: Raring To Go for CHI!
EVENT DATE: May 31, 2016
Congenital Hyperinsulinism (HI) is a disease causing dangerously low blood sugar levels (hypoglycemia) due to the overproduction of insulin. Every year HI babies suffer permanent brain damage or death due to the effects of low blood sugars. HI’s consequences are preventable; tragically, HI is often overlooked, misdiagnosed, or even when detected, mistreated. Families with HI babies need on-going support as treatment is complicated, constant, and prolonged . All fundraising money must be in by May 21 - The funds raised will be added to the Raring to Go for CHI Research Fund of the University of Pennsylvania Orphan Disease Center for innovative, pre-clinical or clinical studies designed to improve the diagnosis, therapy, or quality of life for those affected by congenital hyperinsulinism. These funds will be matched up to $50,000!
