THE STORY:

What is RateMyGovernment.ca?

Let's face it- Canadians are fed up with politicians who say one thing and do another. Most Canadians (especially younger ones) are apathetic and ill-informed as to what's going on in politics. I am a recent university graduate who created this site to make a difference and provide Canadians with a fun and educational tool they could make use of.

RateMyGovernment is a specially formulated rating and comment systems for politicians in Canada going from the Prime Minister down to city mayors, representing all three levels of government . Also, users can rate federal programs/services and basic municipally-provided services for the first time ever!

The second half of the site contains a social networking platform and Community that are fully loaded with features including private email, groups users can join to network according to university/party affiliation, and discussion/debate forums to bring Canadians together to talk about issues that matter the most to them.

Check out a recent news article we were mentioned in here.

Mission Statement

RateMyGovernment.ca is a citizen-driven, grassroots political tool that serves four core purposes:

A) To be Canada’s first political-based social network- by providing a uniquely structured central platform for discussion, debate, and interaction for users across Canada.

B) To engage citizens in a political process many have become disenchanted with because they feel their politicians and governments have neglected to properly represent their interests.

C) To hold elected officials responsible- for both the good and bad things they do while in office.

D) To function as a feedback and measurement tool to gauge the general public’s opinions on government services/programs, policies, and attitudes toward politicians on all three levels of government.

What your contribution will do

We are currently looking to expand our marketing nationally across Canada and make more Canadians aware of this tool. We are looking to raise at least $3,500 for a marketing campaign using mainly social media channels.

In exchange for your contribution, we will provide you with premium advertising space on the site, 728x90 leaderboard, unlimited rotations, for as follows:

$100-249- 2 weeks

$250-499- 1 month

500 and up- 2 months, negotiable and depending on size of contribution

Other Ways You Can Help

We are also looking for help in the following areas:

- Media- If you know a reporter/journalist who would like to cover us, this is a great and cost effective way of getting our message to Canadians. If you write your own blog and would like to mention us, this would be greatly appreciated as well.

- Tell your neighbours/friends- if you have a politically interested neighbour/friend/family member, word of mouth helps as we grow.

Thank you for your time! Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas!
