"In running, it doesn't matter whether you come in first, in the middle of the pack, or last. You can say, 'I have finished.' There is a lot of satisfaction in that."
-Fred Lebow, New York City Marathon co-founder
Thanks for visiting my donation page. Once again I will be running in this 5K event along with my daughter, Jamie Lynn Toczek. She has now been a Chicago Police Officer for over ten years.
The purpose of this run is to raise funds to help the surviving widows, widowers and children of our fallen Chicago Police Officers.
I know from first hand experience just how helpful this foundation can be! A few years ago a close friend, Al Haymaker, died while on duty. He was responding to a buglary in progress and his squad car slid on the ice exiting Lake Shore Drive. He died of his injuries. Afterwards " The Chicago Police Memorial Fund" was there to help the widow and her children in their time of need.
So I'll be running in his memory and also for all the current Chicago police officers who protect our city, ourselves and our grandchildren (I just had to plug my two grandchldren, Connor and Madeline show in the pic).
I know the economy is tough and family budgets are straining to make ends meet so don't feel obligated to give a lot. Even $5 or $10 would be appreciated.
PS If you do donate on line and are using a credit card there is an optional fee at the end. You can opt out that amount.
