Welcome to our page! It's awesome that you are here. If you are grabbing your walking or running shoes and joining us for the event please register using this link to donate. Remember, it's a fundraiser for a great cause, so... don't be shy.. no donation is too small and no donation is too big. We appreciate you. Your donation benefits PHA! Pretty awesome, right? If you are walking in memory of OR in honor of someone, please list it below. About the day: In celebration of Roberta Baines Wheeler Pulmonary Hypertension (PH) Awareness Day, on Saturday, November 15, 2014, a 5k and 6-minute walk will be held on the campus of Vanderbilt University.
The event will include a six minute walk for those participants unable to complete the 5k. Children and adults diagnosed with PH and their caregivers are welcom to particpate. Free blood pressure checks and other activites are planned.
There will also be a support group meeting for patients following the walk. In many instances, few people, even doctors, know of PH. Roberta Baines Wheeler PH Awareness Day, named in honor of Roberta Baines Wheeler, a nurse of over 40 years who continued to lead advocacy initiatives following her diagnosis with PH, is a major advocacy and PH awareness initiative. Last year, in honor of Roberta Baines Wheeler PH Awareness Day a free conference was held at Vanderbilt which included presentations by Vanderbilt physicians. The purpose of the day is to bring patients, caregivers, medical professionals, and the community together for a day of resources, awareness, empowerment, and hope. No walker will be turned away.
