BENEFITING: Research Down Syndrome

EVENT DATE: Oct 19, 2013

THE STORY:

Bardstown Police K9 Officer Jason Ellis was shot and killed in the line of duty on 5/25/2013. Our thoughts and prayers are forever with his family and friends.

Friends of the Ellis family have organized a race in the Bardstown community to be held in memory of Jason Ellis.

The Ellis Family has been long time supporters of Down syndrome causes, including local Buddy Walks. The family asked that Research Down Syndrome be included as one the beneficiaries of race proceeds. Your donation in memory of Jason Ellis will go to support Down syndrome cognitive research.

Research Down Syndrome is the foundation that is changing the course in understanding and treating intellectual disabilities in Down syndrome.

RDS is committed to supporting the identification of the causes of the intellectual impairments associated with Down syndrome and to facilitating the development of pharmacological therapies to improve memory, learning and communication in persons with Down syndrome. Remarkable progress has already been made over a very short time. In fact, a human clinical trial has already begun, less than a decade after the support of private foundations stimulated the progress of Down syndrome cognitive research. Your support will help translate these research initiatives into a reality.

Please join with the RDS Runners as their miles help RDS fund research that already has made extraordinary progress.
