Hello, on Sunday September 22nd, 2013 I am going to be running the Omaha Marathon to benefit the Research Down Syndrome charity. Our family had the opportunity to become friends with the Frederick family, Aaron and Kam while they were our next door neighbors. Aaron and Kam are a young married couple who have three young children, one of whom, Lillie has down syndrome. During the year we were neighbors their kids and our daughter Annie became best of friends and were inseperable. Our family were struck by the patience and love they showed Lillie each day. Aaron had a job change a year ago and their family moved to Omaha in August, 2012. As many of you know, I love to run marathons (slowly) and picked Omaha has my destination this year as our family goes to visit Aaron and Kam. I felt inspired to make my race a fundraiser for Down Syndrome research and to further their cause. Any support would be greatly appreciated!

Research Down Syndrome is the foundation that is changing the course in understanding and treating intellectual disabilities in Down syndrome.
RDS is committed to supporting the identification of the causes of the intellectual impairments associated with Down syndrome and to facilitating the development of pharmacological therapies to improve memory, learning and communication in persons with Down syndrome. Remarkable progress has already been made over a very short time. In fact, a human clinical trial has already begun, less than a decade after the support of private foundations stimulated the progress of Down syndrome cognitive research. Your support will help translate these research initiatives into a reality.
Please join with the RDS Runners as their miles help RDS fund research that already has made extraordinary progress.
