The Episcopal Collegiate School Interact Club is excited to announce a new annual charity event: Reach for the Stars. This year, the charity benefactor is the American Cancer Society. Our goal is to raise more than $5,000—which would set an incredible base for the years to come. In order to accomplish this goal, we will be hosting Reach for the Stars, a twelve hour relay marathon walking event, on April 24th to April 25th from 7pm on the 24th to 7am on the 25th on campus headquartered in the quad. In order to participate in this event, we have asked that each participant raise $100 or more to contribute to our overall goal of $5,000. All donations will go directly to the American Cancer Society.

The American Cancer Society is the largest voluntary health organization in the United States, committed to finishing the fight against cancer. By taking steps to educate citizens in the United States and abroad, the American Cancer Society is taking a stand against cancer, helping to prevent it, or, at least, find it at its earliest stage. ACS also provides support for patients struggling with the disease. Finally, the American Cancer Society is responsible for funding and conducting research that helps doctors and patients alike understand, prevent, and find cures for cancer. Since its founding the 1946, the American Cancer Society has spent more than $4 billion on cancer research. Although our goal of $5,000 seems miniscule in comparison to ACS’s investment in cancer research, the money that we raise will not only go to a wonderful cause, but can and will make a difference in the lives of so many, one day.
