BENEFITING: The Thomas E. Smith Foundation
ORGANIZER: The Thomas E. Smith Foundation
EVENT: Reality Ride Challenge
I first met Tom Smith last summer when I was a law clerk at the Law Offices of Maura Sheehan. Over that summer I had the privilege to work with Tom and the Thomas E. Smith Foundation; but most importantly I got to know Tom as a person and his unique story. What impressed me most about Tom was his sincerity and conviction he has about the battle against paralysis. I could tell he never wanted this to be about him and his story; he wanted it to be about something much bigger – to be proactive in the battle against paralysis and try to find a cure.
Tom loved hockey, but unfortunately his ability to play the game was taken away from him. But hockey gave Tom something else; something he probably never envisioned – a purpose, a purpose to make the game of hockey safer, to make sure no one has to suffer through what he went through and make sure no one has the game of hockey taken away from them.
To make change is never easy; it is an uphill battle with people pushing back at every turn, and I commend people like Tom who are willing to bear that burden. That is why I fully support Tom, the vision of the Thomas E. Smith Foundation and the Look-Up Line in their efforts to make the game of hockey safer.
This is why I am proud and honored to join Tom in the Reality Ride Challenge and help find a cure of paralysis.
I am currently clerking for a law firm in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. I plan to join Tom on his ride when he reaches Florida. I am willing and committed to riding with Tom through the entire state of Florida, a 7-day ride, if I am able to meet my fundraising goal of $7,000. I am putting the length of my ride in YOUR hands.
Your donation will be FULLY tax deductible, and 100% OF EVERY dollar will go directly to the effort to finding a cure for paralysis.
I would like to thank you in advance for your donation, regardless of its size, because without you this ride would not be possible.
