Louisville ECHO is Metro Parks’ signature environmental education initiative that provides 4th grade students from six JCPS schools multiple hands-on experiences in nature. The students engage in environmental education based on the Next Generation Science Standards on multiple field trips to local parks, Jefferson Memorial Forest and lastly the Red River Gorge in the Daniel Boone National Forest.
Eighty 4th grade students from Maupin Elementary, in Louisville, KY, will be engaging in NGSS curriculum based activities at the Red River Gorge in Daniel Boone National Forest. They will learn about geology in a location that abounds with it and explore a stream, discovering what aquatic invertebrates live there. This will be their first visit to a National Forest.
