Stuff About Me:

The pain I feel will never go away, but just become accustomed to living a new life without you dad. My father, was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in March 2014. He underwent surgery to attempt to cut out the cancerous area, but once inside they noticed it was too spread out to be cut out. He recovered from the surgery only to start chemotherapy. He has a ton of chemo, he would go in on a Monday morning, stay all day, come home with it attached to him by some tubes in his chest, and return on Wednesday to to another set. He continued this for about a month and a half or so. The chemo was wearing him out, breaking him down, and making him weak in every possible way. He was going day by day never feeling much better but always in pain not able to eat - heartbreaking to see. It all happened so fast, in the blink of an eye. Pulling off the highway in Indiana looking for the nearest hospital, sitting in the hospital room wondering and waiting, being told we have to wait for a helicopter so he can be flown to a bigger hospital - flies back to Chicago May 27, 2014. Couple hours later my mom and I show up after driving the rest of the way back from Indiana to find out the cancer is everywhere in his body... he has hours to days - but not much longer to live. Tears were non-stop, phone calls were made, and goodbyes were exchanged. "I'll always be your guardian angel. I'll be with you each and every day. I love you." I remember it like it was yesterday, breaks my heart each and every day. The following day, after two days of being surrounded by family and friends, he took his last breath. May 28, 2014. Before March I never knew what a pancreas was, but that changed overnight as I did some research. So little information about pancreatic cancer. Not much funding goes into research, one of the top cancer causing deaths in America, usually found in later stages when it is too late. I want to raise money so there can be research done for pancreatic cancer.
