Thank you!
December 31, 2016

On this, 2016's last day, all of us at One Mind Institute thank you for your generosity in support of PsyberGuide. You are enabling us to lead  See more

THE STORY:

There are thousands of apps to manage mental illnesses--but not all are created equal. PsyberGuide (a project of One Mind Institute) helps you choose the ones that are right for you and those you care about.

MIllions of people with psychiatric challenges too often struggle to access satisfactory care. Medications can treat symptoms, but almost never fully, and usually with difficult side effects. Consumers often must navigate a regulatory maze (and travel too far) to visit psychiatrists or therapists, and when they can, they often find that their providers fail to share their health information with one another, making coordinated care next to impossible.

The blossoming field of digital therapeutics shows amazing promise to address these issues. People like scientist Brandon Chuang, student Anna Ayres, and advocate Brandon Staglin have recovered from psychotic disorders with the help of digital therapies. Building on such successes, scientists are partnering with app developers to launch a wealth of technology-based treatments. But because the FDA does not actively regulate these apps, it is not surprising that some may not work as claimed.

PsyberGuide provides a reliable, online guide to help consumers make informed decisions about what mental health apps and technologies might serve them best.

Your gift can make a difference. With additional funding, PsyberGuide can:

  • Expand the library of products it reviews and rates to cover the field more systematically
  • Conduct more clinical trials to determine how safe and effective apps are
  • Partner with scientists to develop good apps into great apps
  • Develop apps that easily integrate with electronic health records

At PsyberGuide, we believe that reliable information about mental health apps should be free and easy to access.  If you agree, let’s take this to the next level.  Start a fundraising page or make your own donation. Let's reboot mental health!
