Rebuild Terry's Failing Drumline
Organized by: Xzavier Brown
Pride in a school comes not only from individual interests, but also from the groups that create so called "school spirit". From the Cheer Leaders to the Math Club everyone has their place. The drumline, however, is at the core of it all. Being part of the band, we attend a variety of school functions as well as football games. It is up to us to create and drive the feeling of excitement and cheer that is "school spirit" For Terry High School, this is becoming less and less of a possibility. Being a very low funded school, we rely heavily on the participation of parent/student fundraising to pay for activities. The drumline in particular gets close to nothing when it comes to funding. We have had the same drum equipment for 17 years and it is all quite literally falling apart. Drum carriers are being held together with duck tape. Nuts and bolts are constantly being tightened because they are striped. Wood is cracked and chipped, and drum heads are frequently busted and those can barely be afforded in themselves. Our first goal is to replace the worn and rugged carriers that have long outlived their lifespan. Please help bring the spirit back by donating to rebuild Terry's failing drumline.
