BENEFITING: BUILD CHANGE
More than 316,600 houses were destroyed or damaged in the Philippines by Typhoon Haiyan and the Bohol earthquake. Over a million people are living in temporary shelters and heavily damaged, unsafe homes.
Disaster relief efforts are underway, with the mobilization of food, water and shelter. It is critical that we begin the planning process now for the reconstruction of permanent homes.
Please help the Philippines rebuild safe, disaster-resistant homes.
Build Change is committed to helping these communities rebuild safe, permanent houses.
With your support, we will:
- Work with local partners to identify the most critical rebuilding needs
- Complete a forensic engineering study to determine reasons for building collapses
- Design earthquake- and disaster-resistant houses based on local designs, materials and practices
- Train homeowners, builders, engineers and government officials to build safe, permanent homes
Build Change is a leader in delivering sustainable, post-disaster housing reconstruction programs. Build Change has responded to major earthquakes in China, Haiti and Indonesia by designing appropriate disaster-resistant buildings and training local engineers and construction professionals to build them.
