BENEFITING: CAESARS CREEK PIONEER VILLAGE INC
The Toll House Cabin was originally used as a Toll for the Waynesville-Wilmington Pike at the Massie-Wayne township line. This building has also been used as a greeting cabin for the Village as it is located in close proximity to our small parking lot. Over the years, the weather has taken its toll on the Cabin and it is currently in a state which requires major reconstruction. We have contacted people who are willing to do the work for us but now we need to raise the funds with which to pay them for the work. This is a very large sum of money and one that we cannot afford all on our own. Currently, the sill log (the log which is at the bottom of the structure and is the building block on which the rest of the cabins rests) has rotted out and collapsed. The whole cabin is going to need to be jacked up and this log replaced along with a few other logs which being exposed to the elements over the years have started to deteriorate. We are planning on using the logs which we recovered from a log cabin which burned down in Franklin to replace all logs which are in need of repair. Our main cost for this project will just be what we are going to be charged for the labor and then also for the materials which will be needed once the work is accomplished (such as new chinking for in between the logs). We know the reason for why this happened and it has come from years of neglect due to the Village not having the funding which it has needed. That is one reason we have set up a separate fundraiser for general funds. Our goal with the general funding fundraiser is to raise enough money to be able to treat all of the buildings within the village this year and then to invest money so we will never have this problem of funding ever again.
