BENEFITING: HELPING HAND FOR NEPAL INC
On 25 April 2015, a catastrophe occurred in the beautiful country of Nepal, killing more than 8,800 people and injuring more than 23,000. Hundreds of thousands of people were made homeless with entire villages flattened. Schools were destroyed and many citizens lost their jobs. We, a group of young individuals, together with our friends back in Nepal, are working on the relief effort “ Rebuilding Nepal Together”. Our mission is to raise sufficient funds to purchase supplies in terms of zinc sheets to build shelter, urgently required especially with the monsoon session just around the corner, child care kits (food, medication, clothes) and sanitary kits (for women along with water purification liquids and kits). We are also looking at long term mission of rebuilding schools and assisting in resuming businesses in the affected areas. At the moment, our target area to conduct this relief effort would be Barpark, the epicentre of Nepal and Dolakha, where we are looking at rebuilding schools for the children there to resume their education. With the collaborative approach, together with the Nepalese themselves, we ensure that schools are reconstructed with a community rather than for a community. It involves villagers as true partners and not just mere recipients of aid.
