Stephanie Proietty wrote -The country of Vanuatu, located in the South Pacific, has been devastated by Cyclone Pam's heavy winds and rain. The capitol of Port Vila, although not hit the hardest, reported 90% of homes damaged.
Australian and New Zealand aid groups have stepped in to provide food and clean drinking water, among other types of relief; however, the locals need immense help rebuilding their homes and their lives.
By donating to this fundraiser, your money will be sent directly to Ms. Sheryl Buske - a Charlotte School of Law and University of the South Pacific professor. She and her daughter have lived in Port Vila for the past couple of years and are experiencing the devastation of Cyclone Pam first hand. Professor Buske will receive the donations directly and distribute them to the locals of Port Vila- in a more direct manner than many larger aid groups are able to provide.
The Kindergarten built by Charlotte Law and USP students, with the help of many donations received State side, has been completely destroyed. The wonderful Ms. Tomata, who devoted her life to teaching in that structure, has also lost her home which was on the same ground as the Kindy. These donations will go to her, and those like her, that have started to rebuild their lives and their community.
Any and all donations, small or large, are graciously accepted.
